For 10 years Steve Woods and his team of trainers have been at the forefront of Instructor Training to the UK and European Ropes Course industries. Vertex has worked with a huge range of clients from all sectors including Adventure Parks, Outdoor Centres, the Military, Schools, Training Companies and the Tourism Industry. He is proud of the long-term relationships developed over this period with his clients.
Alongside the companies and organisations Vertex has also been a provider of training for individuals. For 9 years Vertex and our team have trained and qualified over 500 outdoor professionals from across the world through the RCD Instructor awards. This course has now been replaced here in the UK by the ERCA training awards and Vertex not only delivers these but is also at the forefront of their continual development. Since January 2010 Steve and his team have run 60 ERCA courses qualifying nearly 600 ERCA instructors.
Over this time Steve Woods has built up a depth of knowledge and experience that is unrivalled in the UK and is the reason why new clients continue to come to Vertex for advice, training and support to ensure their instructors are trained to the highest standards.
Vertex is not only the top training company in Europe but also the only one were all trainers are ERCA Master Trainers, the highest qualification within ERCA. There are currently only 6 in Europe and 3 of them train for Vertex. Steve Woods also holds the title of Director of Training for ERCA and heads up the whole ERCA training system, its development and structure.
Steve Woods is the Director of Training for ERCA and the only ERCA Trainer to be a Master Trainer for both Adventure Parks and Traditional Ropes Courses. He is an expert on the CEN representing the British Standards Institute writing and developing the European Safety Standard EN15567 for Ropes Courses and also part of the team at ERCA who wrote and developed the ERCA Training Syllabus and Awards. Steve has trained for companies and organizations all over the world, working on all types of courses for many different constructors. Putting his signature on over 4000 Vertex certificates and passing 500 ERCA instructors.
Antony Reed is an expert in many outdoor sectors. He is a BCU Level 5 Coach, MIC and now an ERCA Master Trainer for Traditional Ropes Courses. Antony has worked with Vertex for 3 years delivering training across Europe. Antonys experience stretches wider than ropes courses. As an Outdoor Education Advisor for Somerset he sits on a national panel and advises on all of the outdoor education delivered by all of the Schools, Colleges and Outdoor centers employed by the county. In this role he trains and advises those employed by the county in safe operating systems, planning and administration for all Outdoor Activities.
Phil Robinson also an ERCA Master trainer has been training Instructors and using ropes courses to run development programs for over 20 years. Phil trained Steve to be an Instructor over 15 years ago. He has a passion for the opportunities a ropes course experience can offer a good facilitator to promote positive change in groups and individuals and continues to run amazing programs with adult and youth groups as well as being a trainer for Vertex.
